Greetings:

The National Federation Of The Blind Is A Community Of Members And Friends
Who Believe In The Hopes And Dreams Of The Nation's Blind. Every Day We
Work Together To Help Blind People Live The Lives They Want.

You may be fairly new to blindness or you may have been living with it for a

have found the words to do so. Regardless of where you are in your journey
of living with blindness, you have found a home where you are loved and have
the opportunity to show love to others in the National Federation of the
Blind.

Inland Empire Chapter

The Inland Empire chapter members And the Service Center for Independent
Life would like to invite and challenge you to come to their first Walk a
Mile in Our Shoes event. On

October 5, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. Have you ever thought of what it would be
like to lose your sight? Members will be challenging local political
representatives to come and experience firsthand what it means to be blind
or visually impaired and learn why White Cane Safety Day October 15 is so
important. Along with making our communities accessible, safe and
inclusive, they want to help raise awareness to the needs and challenges of
the Blind and Visually Impaired. For example: Do you think you can operate
a computer or smartphone, try to make a bed, or manage in the kitchen, all
while being blind folded? The members will give participants a short
training on how to use a white cane and other mobility aids. Then the
members are off on a short walk through Claremont, they will progress two
blocks and end up back at The Service Center for Independent Life where
refreshments will be provided. This event promises to be fun and eye opening
as to what the blind community lives with every day.

They are looking forward to having you there.

Cheryl Thurston, President, Inland Empire Chapter
