To write a macro on my old Braille Lite, I do chord-n, then assign the
macro a letter. I then execute the tasks I want the macro to do, and
finish with another chord n, which saves the macro. I can then execute
the macro at any time with a chord-j and the letter I assigned as the
macro name.

I do not know how to insert a variable, like for filename in your example.
HTH.
