[NFBCS] "download accessibility software"

Assuming you mean www.labcorp.com:

The accessibility software seems to be called "eSSENTIAL Accessibility" and, judging from what description I
can find, is for replacing keyboard and mouse input with a hands-free approach that requires a camera and/or
mic for voice commands. It can also produce speech output however.

The home of this software, and I believe labcorp simply points to this, is
http://www.essentialaccessibility.com

The site includes the statement, "Recognized in 2021 Gartner® Marketing Guide for Digital Accessibility." I am
familiar with neither this product nor that origin of blessing. Then again, I have for about 22 years been
more of a JAWS scripter than a general accessibility person.

The accessibility link went to what seemed to be another website by a
company called ESsentials. It seemed weird.

I have never heard of such a thing. I also am not aware of any accessibility
overlays that require you to download something. That whole idea goes
against the stated purpose of overlays.

I would be suspicious without more info.

Yesterday I tried to go to Labcorp to make an appointment online, which I
ultimately was not able to do. But, on the home site, there was a link
labelled "accessibility". I followed it, and it wanted me to "download
accessibility software" and accept whatever terms they had. I didn't
continue. I have accessibility software, Jaws, and I didn't see any good
reason to download some mystery software.

Anyone know about this kind of thing? Is it the accessibility overlay stuff
I've been hearing about? Does it cover Labcorp's butt, that I can't make an
appointment through their site, but hey, I didn't download whatever software
they want me to use?

Tracy
