Hello All,

Are you looking for an internship or job? Or, are you considering graduate
school in the near future? The Systemic Access mentorship program is
hosting a panel dedicated to answering your questions on ways to be
successful in the internship, job, or graduate school application process
and how to figure out what you want to do and how to do it.

Our panel of other blind and visually impaired scientists and engineers
range multiple career stages. they bring a wealth of experience and insight
into the application process, pros and cons of different career paths, and
are dedicated to answering your questions about career-related quandaries.
If you are interested in non science-related careers, have no fear. The
experiences, tips and insights of our panelists are relevant for any career.

The biographies of our panelists are below this email, but first, the time
and place of this online session:

When: This Thursday, November 9, at 5:00 pm pacific (8:00 pm eastern). This
is a 1 hour session.

our panelists:

• Dr. Newton Nguyen is a climate scientist at Stanford University,
developing methods to monitor greenhouse gas emissions with satellites. He
is also an algorithms engineer at Puloli, a San Fransisco-based tech
company developing algorithms to monitor and fix greenhouse gas leaks from
energy infrastructure. He has experience working at NASA, the US Department
of Energy, and holds a PhD from Caltech.

• Amelia is a masters student in math at Boise state university. She is
interested in pure math research and has collaborated with multiple
professors on topics like topology. She has also held a research position
in a photonics lab, in addition to jobs at accessible STEM companies such
as Independence Science. She was a 2019 NFB National scholarship winner.

• Trisha is a first year masters student at Stanford studying computer
science. With a focus in computer systems. She has interned in various
software engineering and product design internships at companies such as
Samsung, Microsoft, the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, and the Equal
Employment Opportunity Commission. She is also the immediate past president
of the National Association of Blind Students. She is interested in
education technology and Entrepreneurship.

• Gene is a 4th year undergraduate at Stanford studying Symbolic Systems
with a focus in Human-Computer Interaction and Accessibility. He has held
research internships at Stanford, the University of Washington, and
Northeastern University and has published work on accessible data
visualization, digital design, and STEm education. He has also interned at
two early stage accessibility startups.
