a los Ganadores del Concurso de Ensayos Onkyo en Braille del 2010

La competencia fomenta el uso del Braille Entre los Ciegos

Baltimore, Maryland (20 de diciembre del 2010): La Federación Nacional de
Ciegos (NFB), la organización más grande y antigua de personas ciegas
en los Estados Unidos, se enorgullece en anunciar a los ganadores del
Concurso Onkyo de Ensayos en Braille del 2010. La Federación administró el
Concurso Onkyo de Ensayos
de Alfabetización Braille en los Estados Unidos en nombre de la Unión
Mundial de Ciegos de Norte
América, Región del Caribe. El concurso de ensayos, patrocinado por Onkyo
Corporation, uno de los consumidores japoneses

Mainichi Newspaper Company, en Japón, fué creado para promover la
alfabetización del Braille,
y para fomentar el intercambio de información social y cultural

El Doctor Marc Maurer, Presidente de la Federación Nacional de Ciegos,
dijo: "Estamos muy complacidos de haber sido parte de este importante
concurso. No puede caber duda de que la capacidad de leer y escribir
Braille de manera competente y eficaz es la clave para la educación,
el empleo, y el éxito para los ciegos. A pesar del valor indiscutible
del Braille, sin embargo, sólo alrededor del 10 por ciento de los niños
ciegos en los

La Federación alentó a todos los países de Norte América, Región del Caribe
a participar en el Concurso de Ensayos Onkyo, en Braille. Treinta y nueve
ensayos fueron presentados por los Estados Unidos,
y tres de Canadá. El comité de selección de los Estados Unidos fué
establecido por invitar a las miembras organizaciones de los Estados Unidos
a fín de tener un representante que participara en el comité. El Comité de
selección
