No se olvide llenar una solicitud para la tercera bienal Competencia de la Juventud de la Federación. Seguro que hay algo para todo el mundo. Garantizamos que este programa de verano será ¡como ningún otro en el que haya estado antes! Ciento cincuenta estudiantes ciegos y con baja visión de todo el país serán seleccionados para participar en esta aventura de cinco días, que se llevará a cabo en Baltimore, Maryland, en la Universidad de Towson, desde el 17 de julio hasta el 23, del 2011.

 

Durante su estancia en una ciudad universitaria, los alumnos serán asesorados por modelos a seguir ciegos en actividades divertidas y desafiantes diseñadas para fomentar la confianza y aumentar la cultura científica. Los participantes también tendrán la oportunidad de asistir a estudios sobre temas como el liderazgo, la preparación para la carrera, y la ceguera. Además, los estudiantes y mentores participarán en una variedad de eventos sociales durante toda la semana. ¡Venga a la Competencia de la Juventud de la Federación, y conozca a otros estudiantes ciegos y con baja visión de todo los Estados Unidos!

 

Los estudiantes interesados, que tendrán catorce años de edad en el momento del programa, y están comenzando la escuela secundaria (noveno grado) en el otoño del 2011, o están en la escuela secundaria (incluyendo los que se gradúan en la primavera del 2011) deben llenar una solicitud en línea en www.blindscience.org antes del 1 de marzo del 2011. Los estudiantes, no necesitan tener un fuerte interés en (DERIVADOS) de la ciencia, tecnología, ingeniería o matemáticas para poder participar, disfrutar y beneficiarse de esta experiencia extraordinaria. Don't forget to apply for the third biennial NFB Youth Slam.  There's sure to be something for everyone.  We guarantee this summer program will be like no other you've ever been to before!  One hundred and fifty blind and low vision students from all across the country will be selected to attend this five-day adventure, to be held in Baltimore, Maryland, at Towson University July 17-23,2011.  

 

While staying on a college campus, students will be mentored by blind role models during fun and challenging activities designed to build confidence and increase science literacy.  Participants will also have the opportunity to attend workshops on topics such as leadership, career preparation, and blindness.  In addition, students and mentors will take part in a variety of social events throughout the week.  Come to the NFB Youth Slam and meet other blind and low vision students from all over the United States!

 

Interested students who will be age fourteen at the time of the program, and are starting high school (ninth grade) in the fall of 2011 or are currently in high school (including those graduating in the spring of 2011) should complete an application online at www.blindscience.org before March 1, 2011.  Students need not have a strong interest in science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM) in order to participate, enjoy, and benefit from this extraordinary experience. Adult volunteers are also needed for this program, and Volunteer applications can also be found at the site.
