Biden-Harris Sobre Salarios para Contratistas Federales

Baltimore, Maryland (27 de Abril de 2021): La Federación Nacional de 
Ciegos, la organización Estadounidense de derechos civiles de los

“Elogiamos a la administración de Biden-Harris por incluir expresamente 
a los trabajadores con discapacidades en los nuevos requisitos para los 
salarios

pagados por los contratistas federales",

dijo Mark Riccobono, Presidente de la Federación Nacional de Ciegos. 
“Este es un paso importante para poner fin a la práctica anticuada y 
discriminatoria

de pagar a los trabajadores con discapacidad menos del salario mínimo, 
una práctica basada en estereotipos obsoletos y bajas expectativas en 
cuanto a la capacidad de

trabajadores ciegos y discapacitados. Instamos al Congreso a que lleve 
el fin de esta práctica más allá mediante la aprobación de

Transformation to Competitive Integrated Employment Act,

la Ley de Transformación Hacia un Empleo Integrado Competitivo,

Blind, America’s civil rights organization of the blind, released the 
following statement on the executive order issued today

Biden-Harris administration regarding wages for federal contract workers:

“We commend the Biden-Harris administration for expressly including 
workers with disabilities in the new requirements for wages paid by 
federal contractors,” said Mark Riccobono, President of the National 
Federation of the Blind. “This is a significant step toward ending the 
antiquated and discriminatory practice of paying workers with 
disabilities less than the minimum wage, a practice based on outdated 
stereotypes and low expectations regarding the capacity of blind and 
disabled workers. We urge Congress to take ending this practice further 
by passing the Transformation to Competitive Integrated Employment Act

responsibly phase out subminimum wages for all American workers with 
disabilities.”
