[Nfbf-l] Stand your ground and s2188

That's a valid point John, but in the case of the vigilante wanna-be cop,
the story is different. There are phone calls to prove what happened. The
stand-your-ground law just needs to be specifically defined in what that
means and those who choose to go outside its parameters should be held
accountable.

By the way, Fox news, that Bastian of fairness that it is, basically said
that same thing--the same things that are being said about the issue on CNN
and other "less fair and balanced" and I put that in quotes, networks.

What our founding fathers valued in the framing of our constitution is the
right to free speech. We have the right in this country, unless people at
either extreme of opinion try to take it away, of free speech and the right
to our own opinions. That is what I feel we are in danger of losing.

If people can place suspicion on a black kid walking home from the store
with Skittles and a can of iced tea, when will they also decide that because
we are blind or otherwise disabled, our lives aren't worth as much or maybe
we don't have as much to contribute. It's a slippery slope we are on and
that slope affects the blind.

In an attempt to make this relevant,I will say
that I know of a blind guy who lives in Alabama
who defended his property with a shotgun. He
heard somebody on his property who should not
have been there and shot at him. It has been a
few years since I heard the story so I don't
remember if he hit the guy or not. The county
sheriff knew him and had no problem with him
shooting a gun. If guns are banned, the criminals will still have them.
