Below this note and my signature you will find the email sent to me from our March meeting’s guest speaker Daniel Gallagher, the Recycling and Waste management Specialist with Hillsborough County. He has provided links to great recycling   information and to other valuable programs  available in our area, along with an attached recycling guide. This is a comprehensive list, so it’s surely a document worth saving and sharing!

Good morning Sherrill,

I want to follow-up and share resources I provided during my presentation and found since we last spoke. I specifically want to point out that I spoke with our Household Hazardous Waste operations manager and he informed me that he does provide a special service to directly pick up hazardous waste at your home, instead of you having to drive it to one of our hazardous waste collection events which take place on rotating Saturdays throughout the month. His name is Larry Sinatra and you can call him at (813) 209-3042. He most likely will not answer the first call but he asked that you leave him a voicemail. Just identify who you are, your situation, and what household hazardous waste you need to be picked up. Larry advised for you to simply put it outside your door, NOT at the curb, and he or a staff member will walk up to your home and collect the items. 

I believe someone during the presentation mentioned about sharing an email this month highlighting some recycling best practices. That would be amazing and so helpful! I recommend reminding residents to check with their municipality to know what rules they need to follow in their area and to keep your recyclables loose in the cart (un-bagged), dry, and empty. Remember to always feel free to ask questions!
