> The following courses will be offered in the Louisiana Tech Teaching Blind Students (TBS) graduate program in the Winter Quarter:

> · EDCI 578/Braille II (3 credit hours)
> · EDCI 466(G)/Adaptive Technology for the Visually Impaired (1 credit hour)
> · EDUC 489C: Overview of Access Technology for the Blind (2 credit hours) - see note below
> All will be offered online.
> · EDCI 436/Braille I (UEB) (3 credit hours)
> Note: This course will only be offered if we have enough people interested in registering. I must know by November 15 whether you can commit to taking the course.
> Offered as an online course with scheduled weekly class meetings via the free Group Skype video-conferencing platform. Students will have class Monday nights from 6:00-9:00 p.m. via Skype.
> No campus visits are required.
> Students develop proficiency in reading and writing the Unified English Braille code using the slate & stylus and the Perkins braillewriter.
> No prerequisites.

> · EDCI 578/Braille II/UEB (3 credit hours)
> Offered as a hybrid course with scheduled weekly class meetings via the free Group Skype video-conferencing platform. Students will have class Tuesday nights from 6:00-9:00 p.m. via Skype
> One 3-day weekend (same time as EDCI 466/EDUC 489C weekend) will be face-to-face training in Ruston, LA February 27 - March 1. If you cannot attend this weekend in Ruston, you cannot take the course.
> Expands students' knowledge of braille through knowledge of Nemeth (math and science) and computer braille codes while increasing students' proficiency in reading, transcribing and proofreading literary braille (UEB). Increase knowledge of making and teaching tactile graphics.
> Prerequisite: EDCI 436/Braille I (UEB)

> · EDCI 466/Adaptive Technology for the Visually Impaired (1 credit hour)

> Students become familiar with adaptive technology for people who are blind/visually impaired, including equipment, academic/functional/personal uses, assessments, laws, and resources. Students receive hands-on experience using adaptive technology equipment, performing assessments, and writing reports and IEP goals. Students receive information on AT resources, materials, websites, publications, trainings, and vendors.
> Prerequisite: EDCI 436/Braille I (UEB)

> · EDUC 489C: Overview of Access Technology for the Blind (2 credit hours)
> Note: I will discuss this special topics course during advising.

> This course serves as an overview for common Access Technology (AT) hardware and software used by persons who are blind or visually impaired.
