rehabilitation, rehabilitation teaching or therapy, guidance and/or

related field.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: A bachelor's degree in one of the above areas plus
two years of professional experience in vocational rehabilitation,
vocational assessment, employer relations or rehabilitation technology will

Description of Job Duties 

Provides vocational rehabilitation counseling, assesses consumers, collects,
evaluates and interprets medical, psychological, vocational and other
reports to determine eligibility for services and in determining needs for
vocational rehab services for consumers to prepare for, enter into, or
retain employment; coordinates appointments for consumers. Works with
employers to perform job development, job analysis and follow-up services;
assures job placement is consistent with consumers' unique strengths,
abilities and interest and coordinates job coaching and other services
needed from professionals. Plans and coordinates the delivery of vocational
rehab services based on assessments and Individual Plans for Employment
(IPE); provides consumers with information concerning services, service
providers, responsibilities and terms; monitors caseload budgets, assesses
the need for rehabilitation technology. Develops and maintains case
documentation; interprets and applies agency policies and procedures and
state and federal laws; enters data into the Case Management System; travels
throughout the district to provide services to consumers. Develops referrals
and performs basic public relation functions and partners with
organizations, schools, physicians, etc. throughout the district to arrange
services for consumers. Performs other duties as assigned.

Characteristics of the Class : 

Determines eligibility for persons for vocational rehabilitation services
and provides vocational rehabilitation services to persons with disabilities
seeking gainful employment; and performs other duties as required. 


Typical Working Conditions and Unique Physical Requirements : 

Work is performed primarily in an office setting. Occasional travel will be
required to coordinate services between customers and the agency. 


Additional Requirements : 

Upon appointment, employees in this class may be required to maintain a
valid driver's license and required to drive a licensed vehicle. This status
may be necessary for the length of time in this class. If this is necessary
it will be listed in the specific position description for that position.

a drug screening test and background check. Applicants and employees in
positions which perform job duties that may require contact with offenders
in the custody or supervision of the Department of Corrections or with youth
in the care, custody, or supervision of the Department of Juvenile Justice
must meet qualifications pursuant to the federal Prison Rape Elimination
Act, 28 C.F.R.115.17 and 115.317.
