The Office of Vocational Rehabilitation empowers individuals with
disabilities to maximize employment, achieve economic self-sufficiency and
independence, and to contribute back to society. We also help businesses
and employers recruit, retain and accommodate employees with disabilities.

We are seeking a Voc Rehab Specialist – Certified to provide Personal
Adjustment Counseling to consumers referred to the McDowell Center, to
include assessment, individual and group counseling, training, and other
rehabilitation services to address adjustment issues related to vision
loss.

Key Responsibilities:

   - Provide Personal Adjustment Counseling to consumers referred to the
   McDowell Center, to include assessment, individual and group counseling,
   training, and other rehabilitation services to address adjustment issues
   related to vision loss.
   - Communicate on consumer progress with McDowell staff and referring VR
   counselor through recommendations and updates in progress notes, staff
   meetings, and written assessment reports, monthly reports and final reports
   - Work closely with the voc prep unit team, and provides consultation
   services to VR staff. Makes recommendations for mental health referrals
   when needed, and provides updates that are communicated with the team
   through progress notes, staff meetings, and written assessment reports,
   monthly reports and final reports.
   - Evaluate medical, psychological, vocational, training and other case
   records. Develop an individual training plan for consumers based on their
   specific needs and goals.
   - Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

*EDUCATION:* Graduate of a college or university with a master's degree in
rehabilitation, rehabilitation teaching or therapy, guidance and/or
counseling, psychology, sociology, orientation and mobility, social work,
special education, education with emphasis in vocational counseling or a
related field.
