April!

You're saying that you feel unwelcome in this listserv and sounding as
though you've fought your last battle! I truly regret finding you feeling
so down and out and all alone and different.

I have been noticing all the increased activity on the NFBK list without the
time to stop and read or interact with you guys. I did know that you were
relatively new to the listserv but figured these other guys were joining in
with you and sharing resources, solutions, etc.

***I have been very much enjoying finding 'April Brown' messages in my
e-mail In Box often! I truly regret that you feel unwelcome!!!

I do not get to follow every message in the listserv but have especially
enjoyed some of yours and have admiration for you, April, regarding your
accomplishments in the writing field.

I'm pretty sure there are others like me, April, who have been moving these
listserv e-mails to the NFBK folder without reading or at least without
interacting. I for one have certainly welcomed your presence in the
listserv but failed to let you know.

I do not know the details of your vision loss but do know most every aspect
of life that is impacted. I often share the following view of blindness
with a group of blinded veterans here in Lexington: "I have been totally
blind 42 years and have grown to love being blind, for I would not have met
so many wonderful people with such great passions to leave Kentucky a better
place for the blind and visually impaired when our journey is complete."
Well, ok, I use the word "love" on good days__Smiles, and on bad days, quite
the contrary .

After all these years, I still often feel as though I'm on the emotional
roller coaster ride regarding blindness. Nevertheless, I continue onward,
for the alternative is not very inviting.

I believe in purposes and reasons for our life circumstances, and one
purpose I'm certain about for you, April, is that you've brought joy to my
life on a regular basis through this listserv and didn't even know it!

My best thoughts and prayers are for you throughout your journey, April,

Subject: [Nfbktad] Goodbye to the group

I am saying my goodbyes to the group.

I've never belonged anywhere.

Can't make it in the business setting because I can't join in gluten food
swaps.

Can't hold a job because I can't drive 25+ mile each way.

Can't hold a job because I can't physically function more than a few hours
each day.

Even writer don't want me because I can't visually recognize the difference
in a comma and period.

One I dreamed people cared, and wanted to help others succeed regardless of
difference.

Instead, I have continuously found, when I reach out, that I am just a piece
of garbage to kicked on down the street, because I cannot do or be exactly
what another expects.

I understand it's important that everyone is able to do things exactly the
same way. Since I cannot physically do so, I will no longer join in
conversations, make comments into my journey into the darkness, and I will
delete my subscriptions to all NFB groups.

I am not welcome here, and that is clear.

Have a good day,

April Brown
