POSITION POSTING

 

Requested Start Date:     Immediately 

Position Title:                  Independent Living Assistant
Instructor-CORE

Department:                    Rehabilitation - Baltimore

Hiring Manager:              Amy Phelps 

Salary:                            $10.00 - $12.00/hourly

Number:                         1 Position Available

Schedule:                       Hours will vary from 10-40 hours a week,
depending on schedule. Evenings and weekends as needed

 

Essential Position Functions:

1.       Assist in providing instruction in non-visual methods of food
preparation, cleaning, grocery shopping, budgeting, time management,
sewing, home organization, and all other skills within the IL training
curriculum. 

2.       Assist in maintaining training kitchen and related areas in
organized, sanitary fashion.

3.       Participate in rehab activities, seminars, and outings when
scheduled.

4.       Serve as a substitute teacher in other areas as needed.

5.       Work closely and harmoniously with co-workers as an 

          integral part of the Rehabilitation Division teaching team.

6.       Other duties as required.

 

Qualifications:

1.  Minimum Attendance Required: 100%.

2.  Completion of recognized blindness training program.

3.  Experience delivering Independent Living instruction preferred.

4.  Positive belief in the abilities of blind people.
