Hello Federation Families:

The Maryland Parent and student divisions invites families to our Get on
BASE workshop on September 18, 2021. Participants will learn how to teach
social cues and learn how to navigate different social experiences as a
person who is blind, how to combat ableism, staying safe with technology,
and the meaning of consent. Parents and children will split off into two
separate groups and attend sessions covering the same topics. Parents will
hear from successful blind adults on how parents can help their children
navigate social experiences. Children will hear how older blind student
mentors handled social encounters as a blind person. Only students over the
age of 14 are permitted to register and participate in the student
activities.

The Workshop will be held via Zoom.

Our agenda for the workshop will be coming out in the next couple of days.
