Region VII Area Agency on Aging installs computer programs to help people who are blind or visually impaired

BAY CITY — The Region VII Area Agency on Aging has installed two software programs on agency computers to assist people who are blind or visually impaired.

 

The programs, Zoom Text and JAWS, were installed with a partnership with the MIchigan Commission for the Blind, to help those how want to learn how to browse

the Internet, create e-mails or compose word documents.

 

The programs were installed on two computers in the Area Agency on Aging's computer lab at 1615 S. Euclid Ave.

 

Zoom Text is a screen magnifier that also offers eight zoom window types.

 

JAWS (Job Access With Speech) is a screen reader that uses in integrated voice synthesizer and the computer's sound card to output the content of the computer

screen through speakers.

 

Anyone who wishes to use the services or learn more about them can call teh agency at (800) 858-1637.
