If you are thinking about the west side of the state I would give lots of 
thought to Grand Rapids or Kalamazoo. Both fairly good-sized communities 
with good transportation alternatives. If you're looking in the Detroit area 
I woulde give lots of thought to living along Ford Road or close to it, or 
Michigan Avenue. You might also consider getting with Michael Patton who 
works for the bus folks in Detroit he is the ADA coordinator and might be of 
assistance as well.
