Your help is needed, especially if John Dingell is your member of Congress. Mr. Dingell co-sponsored HR3086, The Fair Wages For Workers With Disabilities Act last year and he has been asked to do so again, but he needs to hear from as many of us as possible.

In Michigan, there are numerous "non-profit" enterprises that are permitted to pay their disabled workers less than the minimum wage. This legislation phases out Section 14(c) of the Fair Labor Standards Act, which
allows employers to pay disabled workers subminimum wages. By ending this exploitative,
discriminatory practice, disabled Americans will receive equal protection under the
law to earn at least the federal minimum wage and reach their full employment potential.

To help make this happen contact Andrew J. Woelfling (202) 225-4071

andrew.woelfling at mail.house.gov

and ask that Representative John Dingell co-sponsor The Fair Wages For Workers With Disabilities Act, sponsored by Congressman Harper.

Interested members of Congress should contact Scot Malvaney in Congressman Harper's office at

scot.malvaney at mail.house.gov

to co-sponsor.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions, concerns or comments via e-mail
or by phone at:
(517) 256-2514. Also, please forward to me any e-mail that you get indicating a willingness to co-sponsor or that it has already occurred.

Sincerely,
Joe Sontag, Legislative Director
National Federation of the Blind of Michigan
