I did not hear abouthis until Sherry contacted me.
Carmen Saminski made her announcement this week about her retirement, which
will take place on August 15th.
The Superintendant for the School for the Deaf in Devil's Lake is also
vacant since Carmen was the
Superintendant for both schools.

The difference between the job requirements for the School for the Blind and
School for the Deaf is notable.

I went up to the website. They don't give you a lot of time do they.

Minimum Qualifications:
Requires a Master's degree in education, administration,
rehabilitation, counseling or related field.  A degree is considered
related if a review of official transcripts indicates that the
coursework provided the knowledge and skill required to perform the
duties of the position. AND Three years of administrative experience
in the education of visually impaired individuals, which included
responsibility for the supervision and management of
professional-level staff.

Preference:

Preference will be given to individuals who hold a North Dakota
Administrative Credential.

Summary of Work:
  a.. Administer all educational and residential programs and
activities for visually impaired students at the school.
  b.. Develop, implement, and interpret policies and procedures.
  c.. Represent the school in promoting services for the visually
impaired to the legislature, school administrators, professionals
associated with programs for the visually impaired, and the general
public.
  d.. Establish strategic plan for the school.
  e.. Responsible for development of school budget.
  f.. Serve on various boards and commissions.
  g.. Conduct annual evaluations on teachers and staff.
  h.. Other duties as assigned by the State Superintendent of Public
Instruction.
