Dear Nadia,

   I for one appreciated your comments and certainly respect your right to 
say it on our list serve.  I would hope that you learn about our 
organization and choose to join with us in our efforts to achieve equality 
for all the blind of Michigan.  I have been a member for more then 45 years 
and have seen the many back and forth discussions that exist, but one thing 
that has never changed is our phlosiphy on blindness and our on going effort 
to make blind persons and equal part of this world, both in thought and in 
action.  We need you and others not to sit on the sidelines, but to help us 
achieve our goal.

   Strength of our movement is found in the strength of our individuals 
members.  Strength to not stray from the purpose of why the NFB exists, and 
stregth not to put your own agenda in front of  the organizations.  We all 
have our interest, but I challenge our members, especially our board members 
and non members alike to not bring that personal interest into the 
organization and try to make it more important then our reasonfor being.
   Nadia, we are not a social club, although we have times when we have lots 
of fun; we are not a source of funds for pet projects, and we are not an 
organization that just agrees with an issue just to get along with others. 
Our actions need to be driven by our phlosiphy and purpose and sometimes 
that effort is not pretty and not fun. Is the reason that we were founded 
changed in our world?  I believe the discrimination, the inequality and the 
miscoceptions about blind people still exist today,and our founders set 
about to change those shortcomings of our society,and we need to be about 
doing our part to continue that effort.

   As Dr. Jernigan said "Come and join us on the barricades,and we will make 
it all come true".
