[Nfbmo] CU Transit Services participate in Communities in Motion Week

City Utilities Transit Services will be participating in Communities in
Motion week the week of June 18-22, 2012. 

Several events are planned locally to observe Communities in Motion
Week:
NaN. Monday, June 18: CBCO Blood Drive at CU Transit offices. Located at
Boonville and Division.
NaN. Tuesday, June 19: Free donuts at Park Central transfer facility
(Donuts donated by Krispy Kreme)
NaN. Thursday, June 21: National “Dump the Pump Day.” Ride the Bus for
free.
NaN. Friday, June, 22: “Pennies for Passes Day”. Donate your loose
change to help others needing transportation throughout the year.
Collection containers will be on all buses and money received will be
used to purchase passes for passengers asking for assistance.
Additionally, throughout the week, tickets may be purchased for a
drawing with the prize of a diamond necklace donated by Loftis Jewelers.
Tickets are $3.00 each with all proceeds going directly to the “Pennies
for Passes” program. Tickets may be obtained at Loftis Jewelers, 410 W.
University (Corner of Campbell & Sunshine), or by calling the CU Transit
office at 831-8782 

Across the country, public transportation is seeing an increased number
of riders. In 2011, CU Transit Services provided 1.5 million rides. CU
buses drove 1.2 million miles and operated over 85,000 hours to provide
transportation services to our community. 

Sponsored by the American Public Transportation Association (APTA),
Communities in Motion Week is observed in communities across the United
States. It emphasizes the fact that public transportation assists people
and communities in a wide variety of ways.
