The Governor's State of the State speech next week will be Tuesday, January
21st at 7:00 pm in the House chamber.  The address will be streamed live at
http://governor.mo.gov/2014-state-of-the-state.  The Governor's budget
proposal will be released after his address.

 

Among next week's scheduled hearings are:

 

HB1156 - Money Follows the Person

Rep. Lair's bill is scheduled for a hearing in the Children, Families, and
Persons with Disabilities Committee which meets on Tuesday, January 21, at
Noon in HR 1.  The bill would establish a working committee to assess the
continuation of the Money Follows the Person program beyond its
demonstration period to help persons with disabilities or who are aging
transition from nursing facilities back into the community.  The committee
would include state agency and other representatives and would report back
to the Governor and general assembly. 

 

House Appropriations Committee for Health, Mental Health and Social Services
will hear testimony from the Department of Social Services on Tuesday,
January 21st at 2:00 pm.  Then they will be taking testimony from the
Department of Mental Health the next day - Wednesday, January 22 at 3:00 pm
or upon House adjournment.  Both hearings will be in HR 5.  For both
hearings, they will also have a limited period for public testimony (four
slots of up to five minutes each) if time permits.  Those interested in
testifying should contact the Chair's office at sue.allen at house.mo.gov

House Appropriations Committee for Education will take public testimony
related to elementary and secondary education or to higher education on
Wednesday, January 22 at 2:00 pm in HR 1. Persons interested in testifying
should contact Gregg in Rep. Lair's office at 573-751-2917.

 

Senate Appropriations Committee will hear testimony on an overview of the
Governor's Budget Recommendations on Wednesday, January 22nd upon morning
adjournment in SCR 2.

 

House Budget Committee will hear testimony from Budget and Planning in the
Office of Administration on the Governor's proposed budget on Thursday,
January 23 at 8:00 am in HR 3. 

 

SB518 - MO HealthNet (Medicaid) Managed Care

Senator Sater's bill will be heard on Tuesday, January 21 at 2:00 pm in SCR
1.  The bill would require that managed care for MO HealthNet be extended
statewide from the current 53 counties in which recipients receive health
care through private managed care plans.  It would require managed care
plans only for Medicaid populations now covered by managed care plans, not
for most aged, blind and disabled Medicaid populations.
