Tomorrow morning, the group is planning a meeting with the topic of reading to start off the year.

Russ has said that Montana is welcome. In fact, often there are several other states whose members attend.

By the way, some of us have been discussing starting up a book club on Zoom.

Good Morning Sunrise and Shine Family and Welcome First Timers Too!

 

When seeking advice on how to begin 2024 with Sunrise and Shine with NFB-NEWSLINE®  it was suggested to me that we ease into the new year with a topic that is near and dear to so many of us, one thought immediately came to mind…reading! Okay, to tell the truth, several other topics popped into my head, but since we just did trivia, and not everybody wants to talk about football, old folk music, my new hearing aids or the joys of naps, I knew that all things reading related would be a hit!

The gathering tomorrow morning could take so many directions, such as, what are folks reading, how do people prefer to access books, magazines and news content, are readers okay with paying for access to their favorite content or are they taking the, “if it’s free, it’s for me” route? The one thing I’ve found out over the past several years with this wonderful ‘Rise and Shine family is that everyone on the call will steer me in the right direction and the call will be lots and lots of fun.

 

Let’s not forget to raise our coffee cups high in a toast to Louis Braille. A lot of celebrations took place last week to commemorate his 215th birthday. Although Louis probably won’t be joining us at 9:00 AM, we’ll work hard on having some of our friends from the Braille and Talking Book Library on hand instead.

 

If reading isn’t your thing, maybe filing your income taxes is. Yes, I really went there. We’ll begin tomorrow morning’s call with a special guest. Kaye Baker.  Kaye has ask for a few minutes at the beginning of the call so she can share some very interesting news about a new free online tax filing platform being introduced by the IRS. Okay, so I admit it, I’m one of those, “if it’s free, it’s for me” folks too…no big secret there.

 

If you haven’t been to one of our calls before, joining us at 9:00 AM for coffee or tea will give you a chance to find out what you’ve been missing. We always take time for welcoming new guest speakers and participants and for lots of warmth and laughter.
