One of Friday's convention highlights is the morning workshop for
blind diabetics.
Here is a note from the facilitator of this session: Bridgit Kuenning-Pollpeter.
Diabetes can be a tricky disease to deal with. And when you add
blindness into the mix, it can feel overwhelming. But just as there's
life after blindness, managing the condition as a blind diabetic is
possible.
Learn to successfully manage your diabetes as a blind person during
the 2014 diabetes seminar at the annual NFBN convention. A guest
speaker from the Nebraska Medical Center's Diabetes Clinic will
provide answers about the disease, answering questions. You will also
meet fellow blind diabetics who are successfully navigating life as
blind diabetics. Topics will include the differences between type one
and two diabetes, proper nutrition, accessible devices, how to use
insulin pumps as a blind diabetic and much more.
Join us Friday, October 10, 2015 from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. With the
right tools, support and attitude, living with diabetes as a blind
person can be done successfully. Come meet fellow blind diabetics, and
have an opportunity to learn and discuss topics important to blind
diabetics.
