Subject: Working with the DeafBlind from Sprint IP Relay

Ms. Eaddy,

Your contact information was given to me by Tammy Albee at the NFB. Allow me to introduce myself. I’m the Global Director for Accessibility at Sprint and
I have recently returned from the NFB Conference in Orlando and also visited with Tammy and other executives at the NFB Headquarters in Baltimore.

As you may know, Sprint is the exclusive provider of IP Relay www.sprintip.com which is used by many DeafBlind consumers for making telephone calls.

In the very near future, we plan to expand and improve upon our services to the DeafBlind community and would like to collaborate with you and the NFB.

Sprint IP Relay – We would like feedback from the DeafBlind community on the Sprintip.com (web-based application) and our Sprint Mobile IP app for Apple or Android devices. We are interested in how it works with braille and/or screen readers. We would also like to know what are the preferred braille or screen readers used by the DeafBlind community.

Relay Conference Captioning – This service is available in the following states: New Jersey, North Carolina, Arizona, Colorado, West Virginia, Hawaii, Florida and Federal Relay. The NJ RCC website is www.njrelaycc.com.

Interested individuals can contact me if they have any additional questions and/or want to participate in this collaboration.

Cordially,

Mike Ellis
