*Up for a Challenge?*

October is traditionally “Meet the Blind Month”. This year, the NFBNJ
Sports and Recreation Division is offering a unique way for all in our
affiliate (family and friends, too!) to get out and about and demonstrate
to the public that we live the lives we want. And a secondary benefit will
be personal wellness and increased fitness.

You are invited to participate in this year’s 2nd Annual Step Challenge
sponsored by the Sports & Recreation Division NFBNJ which will run from
October 1 through October 31; a perfect time to get outdoors and get
moving. The days usually are cooler, and you can feel more energetic as you
keep track of your daily steps.

This year, we are using the honor system – you keep track of your own daily
steps recorded on a fitness app or other device. You can walk indoors (like
at a shopping center) or outdoors. Use your white cane and let the people
around you see a blind person on the move! We’re asking each participant to
commit to completing at least 7,500 steps a day during the month of October.

Interested? It’s easy to participate – all you need to do is complete the
on-line registration form that will be available on Thursday, September 20th
and must be completed before October 1. At the end of October participants
are asked to finish off with an on-line completion survey.

We’re holding a preparation conference call for everyone who is interested
in participating. The call will be held on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at
7:00 pm
To participate call 605 468 8005 <(605)%20468-8005> and use the access
code 460994 followed by the pound sign. Please dial in 5 to 10 minutes
priorl. Looking forward to seeing you while we all are out and about!

Linda Melendez, President
