New CDC Guidelines on Mask Mandate:
If you're fully vaccinated, you can resume pre-pandemic activities, except
in NJ
The CDC announced Thursday that fully vaccinated people can resume
activities without wearing a mask or physically distancing, except where
required by federal, state, local, tribal, or territorial laws, rules, and
regulations, including local business and workplace guidance.
What does it mean to be fully vaccinated?
According to the CDC website, people are considered fully vaccinated:
- 2 weeks after their second dose in a 2-dose series, such as the Pfizer
or Moderna vaccines, or
- 2 weeks after a single-dose vaccine, such as Johnson & Johnson’s
Janssen vaccine
If you don’t meet these requirements, regardless of your age, you are NOT
fully vaccinated. Keep taking all precautions

until
you are fully vaccinated.
New Jersey will keep mask mandate in place, despite CDC guidance.
“Governor Murphy and the New Jersey Department of Health are reviewing the
new CDC guidance on masking requirements,” Alexandra Altman, a spokeswoman
for Murphy’s office, said in a statement. “We continue to move forward in
our efforts to vaccinate all willing and eligible individuals who live,
work, or study in New Jersey.”
The Governor clarified his statement adding "those who are fully vaccinated
in the Garden State no longer need to wear a mask outside. Those who aren’t
vaccinated still need to wear masks when in “close proximity” to others, he
said.

Vaccine Eligibility Expands to Minors
On May 12th, the CDC approved the use of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for
use in minors 12-15 years old.
In New Jersey, every person 12 or older who lives, works, or studies in New
Jersey is now eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine. Getting an appointment has
never been easier as many of the megasites are now offering walk-in
appointments, however be sure to pay attention to the ages being served, as
some locations do not carry the Pfizer vaccine. Follow the link below to
select appointments now offered through local pharmacies.

More Events & Important News
Disability Rights NJ COVID-19 Vaccine Assistance & Resource Center
Disability Rights NJ recently received a grant from the Administration for
Community Living to help increase COVID-19 vaccination among individuals
with disabilities.
The new funds will help us to initiate the Disability Rights NJ COVID-19
Vaccine Assistance and Resource Center:
- provide assistance to individuals having difficulty scheduling
a vaccine;
- provide assistance in arranging transportation to a vaccination site;
- assist individuals who are homebound arrange for an in-home vaccination
Outreach will be an important aspect of this new initiative as staff
members work with state and local governmental agencies and community
groups all around the state to raise awareness of the inaccessibility of
vaccines to the disability population. Through these collaborations, we
hope to identify individuals with disabilities who have not received
a vaccine, identify their reasons for not receiving the vaccine, and help
facilitate the acceptance of a vaccine. This may involve removing a barrier
to the vaccine, educating an individual regarding the benefits of
the vaccine, or identifying a trusted advisor who can assist with
encouragement of the vaccine.
As vaccines become approved for younger children, Disability Rights NJ will
also begin work with parent and youth groups to inform this critical
demographic of the population, the benefits to the vaccines for their
children.
