NFB continues to provide support for Covid-19 at-home testing

The National Federation of the Blind continues to sponsor access to our
professional visual interpreters for anyone in the United States who wants
to take an at-home Covid-19 test. This promotion applies to both rapid
antigen and PCR tests. Agents can describe the various testing materials,
read through instructions and test results, then take an accessibly
labeled photo
of those results and email it to you for future reference. Read more here.

Changes to Call Management

Since Aira was first launched, the Aira request management system would
terminate any unanswered call request after a predetermined amount of time.
If an Explorer placed a call and all Agents were busy (after Priority
Connect), the call request was automatically ended. Most Explorers
initiated a new call request immediately following and were ultimately
connected to an Agent. Explorers have long requested we remove this default
so they can choose the length of time they wait.

Earlier this month we announced a change that makes it possible for an
Explorer to wait however long they wish on the occasions when Aira Agents
are busy. This simple change will make it possible to maintain your
priority by remaining in the queue. In the current implementation you will
hear the call continue to ring; future implementations may include an
indication of your estimated wait time or your place in queue.

Remember We Offer Spanish Language Support

Remember, you can communicate with us in Spanish. To change your language
preference, go to the “More” tab at the lower right of the home screen in
the Aira app. Select “Language Preference” and complete the short form.

Section 2: Tips and Tricks

Here is a suggestion for Explorers using JAWS and Team Viewer on how to
easily get a copy of your user ID and password for your Aira Agent. Instead
of copying and pasting them to a note pad, there is a third party website
called HARTGEN CONSULTANCY

This file needs to be downloaded, unzipped and installed on your computer;
then reset JAWS and Team Viewer. Once this is done the script will help
dump your ID and password automatically as soon as Team Viewer is opened by
hitting "F1". Thank you Explorer Martin for this great tip.
