[NFBNJ] Kenneth Jernigan Convention Scholarship – Applications Now Open

The *Kenneth Jernigan Convention Scholarship* provides financial
support to *National
Federation of the Blind members who wish to attend a National Convention in
person for the first time* but have been unable to do so due to a lack of
funding.

*Eligibility*
Active NFB members, blind or sighted, who have *never attended an in-person
NFB National Convention* because of financial barriers are eligible to
apply.

*Application Deadline*
*April 15, 2026*

*How to Apply*
The online application is now open and will request:

   -

   Contact information (including phone numbers, mailing address, and email
   if available)
   -

   State affiliate and chapter information
   -

   Convention mentor contact information
   -

   A funding request with an estimated budget
   -

   Short essays explaining:
   -

      Your participation in the Federation
      -

      Why do you want to attend the national convention
      -

      What you hope to gain
      -

      What you can give back
      -

      Any special circumstances for consideration

Applicants who cannot apply online may submit a *written application letter*
answering the same questions to their *state affiliate president*.

*Important Reminder*
All applicants *must contact their state affiliate president*, who must
submit a *president’s recommendation* directly to the Kenneth Jernigan
Convention Scholarship Fund Committee at *kjscholarships at nfb.org* by *April
15, 2026*. Applications are not complete without this recommendation.

We strongly encourage eligible members to apply and take advantage of this
