The National Federation of the Blind of Ohio, Cleveland Chapter

Celebrate Guide Dog Awareness Month

The Cleveland Chapter has become engaged and invested in President
Riccobono's initiative on diversity and inclusion. We celebrated Louis
Braille Birthday, Black History Month and Women History Month from January
through March 2019. Now for the month of April, we will celebrate guide dogs
in the National Federation of the Blind. April 10th is Hug Your Dog Day,
April 11th is National Pet Day and most importantly; April 25th is
International Guide Dog Day. Therefore, we will begin by celebrating with
featured stories from our Local and State guide dog trail blazers. Yes, our
four-legged friends are Federationist too!!

As we winddown from acknowledging influential women in the National
Federation of the Blind by celebrating Women History Month in March. I hope
their impact has enlightened and inspired you. We have one final influential
female that was posted this evening.

Moreover, there will be two National Federation of the Blind Local and State
guide dogs featured by email, ListServe and on Facebook during April. Each
week, you will come familiar with their work. Some you will know, but others
you may not. Hopefully, you will have an opportunity to meet or pet them in
the future. However, I can assure you that their stories will be touching
and make you sit-up and beg for more!
