Adapted Technology (AT) Assistant
Job Description Summary
Inglis enables people with disabilities - and those who care for them -

It is essential that all duties are performed with the highest level of
integrity, while supporting Inglis Values and Standards of Excellence,
ensuring the achievement of competencies and compliance with regulatory
agencies.
• The Adapted Technology Assistant will support both the Adapted
Technology Therapists (Inglis House(IH) and the Community) to provide
technology support and/or training
• Provide instruction and on-going support to all users of the Adapted
Technology Labs to ensure efficient input and purposeful output
• Provide ongoing assessment and maintenance of technologies and
maintain a working knowledge of the technologies used within the Adapted
Technology (AT) Program
• Safely utilize standard and/or AT equipment to ensure proper physical
set up of the technology users.
• Assist and educate the residents/consumers to safeguard the security
of their technologies and the data contained within the HIPAA
requirements; works to provide IH residents and community consumers with
information necessary to be safe on-line.
• Demonstrate excellent customer service skills and effectively
communicate with staff, residents and consumers
• Can quickly adapt to a changing environment and demonstrate efficiency
in supporting tasks and documentation
• Some travel and weekend coverage will be required
Education & Experience
This position requires a minimum of a High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred
An Assistive Technology Professional certification or technical degree
in computer systems is preferred along with 1-3 years related experience
that includes
• Experience with Microsoft Office Package, Active Directory, Windows
Operating systems, Windows Accessibility Options or Ease of Access
Center is required.
• Experience with maintaining and troubleshooting Windows-based computer
systems
• Must demonstrate experience with Internet access and navigation, email
account management, and social networking sites.
• A working knowledge of assistive technology is a plus.
• Experience with assessing individual computer users for their unique
assistive technology needs and recommend/provide the technologies to
meet their individual needs is a plus.
• Computer instruction to individuals / small groups a plus.
Role Specific Competencies

appropriate questions to accurately understand the residents/consumer
needs. Exercises patience in difficult situations and demonstrates the
ability to diffuse potentially stressful situations. Looks for
opportunities to develop constructive working relationships with Inglis
staff and Inglis residents/consumers characterized by a high level of
professionalism, acceptance, cooperation, and mutual respect.
Continually seeks to improve residents/consumers service, perception,
and satisfaction.
Effective Written and Verbal Communication Skills - Demonstrates an
ability to speak well and represent Inglis and the AT department in a
professional manner. Conveys ideas and facts using language the audience
will best understand. Asks questions in ways that enhance the clarity,
quality, and reliability of information. Responds to emails and calendar
requests in a timely manner and actively participates in departmental
meetings and discussions.
Troubleshooting and Support - Understands AT tools, techniques,
procedures, and how adapted technology is used. Maintains in-depth
knowledge of the department’s key services for which support is being
provided. Accurately diagnoses issues. Matches resources to issues
appropriately and escalates issues that cannot be completed. Identifies
emerging trends and issues and makes suggestions for modifications to
solve current and prevent future problems.
Teamwork - Creates a positive and motivating working environment.
Promotes cooperation and commitment within a team to achieve goals and
deliverables. Value’s other team member’s contributions and time. Takes
personal responsibility for the quality and timeliness of work. Adheres
to the department policies, schedules, and procedures. Demonstrates the

Inglis House is a specialized, skilled nursing, long-term care community
based in Philadelphia, PA. Founded in 1877, Inglis is a Person-Centered
Care community specializing in services to non-geriatric adults with
severe neurodegenerative physical disabilities resulting in paraplegia

Inglis is one of eight residential facilities throughout the United
States that offers such highly specialized, long-term care for people
with physical disabilities. Inglis Community Based Services supports
more than 800 people living independently in the community through
resources including: accessible housing, care management (helping people
navigate the health care system), a day program, Adapted Technology
training and community employment. Inglis is the largest provider of
affordable accessible housing in the Greater Philadelphia region with
more than 300 accessible, affordable apartment homes for people with
disabilities, including 80 new units just opened at Inglis Gardens at
Belmont Pennypack Crossing, developed with Conifer, opening this summer
