2022 state convention

Hello everyone! I made a visit to the Doubletree Hotel to get
orientated with the property and would like to provide you with
details of how to travel to popular areas that you may be visiting
upon your arrival next week. There has been a little remodeling since
the last time our convention was at this hotel. One noticeable
observation is that there is not any carpet in the lobby. Also, there
use to be about a 3 to 4 foot wall that had surrounded the seating
area in the lobby. That wall is no longer in place.

In the front of the hotel, you can either walk up two steps, or
go to the right of the steps to walk up the ramp. The ramp is only to
the right of the front steps and has a short wall on either side of
the ramp. It is a safe assumption that the ramp is in place for those
who are using wheelchairs or walkers.

The front door is an automated door the slides open as a person
approaches. There is a small vestibule that will be preceded by a
second set of automated sliding doors. Once you have enter the hotel,
the front desk is located to the right. You will need to walk a few
steps to the right and make an immediately left turn to be placed in
front of the front desk. This will be the area you will need to
approach to check-in. The desk is about 60 or 66 inches in height.

The doubletree has two different areas for the sleeping rooms.
If your room number is 30 and lower on each floor, you will proceed to
the left for the elevators if your sleeping room is on the 2nd floor
or higher.
If your sleeping room number is 31 and higher, your room will be
located on the other side of the hotel that is pass the meeting rooms
and hotel bars.

To the right of the front desk will be a hall-way that you will
need to travel to reach other areas of the Doubletree. If you turn
left to put the front desk on your left, will be an area for the ATM
which has a headphone jack for accessibility usage. It is in the
corner after you have traveled approximately 20-feet.

If you place the ATM behind you, trail the wall on your left.
The first room you will approach is the Delta Suite. It has a glass
door entry way. Pass up the Delta Suite and you eventually will make
another left turn. The first opening on your left will be a small
area that is the location of the men and women restroom. The women’s
restroom will be on the right, and the men’s restroom will be on the
left.

After you have pass the restroom area, keeping the wall on your
left, there is a restaurant/dining area and you can hear the sound of
a fountain on the inside of this area. When I had visited the hotel
on Wednesday, november 2nd, at about 4:30pm, this area had a closed
sign in front of it.

After passing this area, the wall will have you to go slightly to
the right. In this area, you will approach carpet which is leading to
the area of the ballrooms and meeting rooms. It is my assumption that
this area will also be the location of the pre-functioning conference
area.

Ballroom A, B, and C, will come up on your left. This is the
area for the general session. Once you have pass these ballrooms, a
hallway will come up on your left.

On the left side of the hallway will be Ballroom D and Ballroom E.
On the right side ofthis hallway, you will find the meeting
rooms—-they are the Cancun room, Tampico room, Monterey room, Acapulco
Room, and not necessarily in that order.
Across from the meeting rooms and the ballrooms are plenty of
lounging and seating area. This is on the right side of the hallway
that you had walk down where ballrooms were on your left.

Also, on the right side of the main hallway is the pool. The
pool doors are locked and can only be open by the use of your room
key. The pool hours are 9am to 10pm. Since I was not a guest yet, I
did not have a room key in my possession to open the door to explore
the inside of the pool area.

If you continue down the hall with the pool on your left, you
will approach one of the restaurant/bar area called Sun Dance. They
are open until midnight.

Now, let’s go back to the hallway area of the ballrooms and
meeting rooms. With the meeting rooms on your left, if you continue
down the hall, there is a set of doors at the end of the hall that
leads to a parking-lot area. It will be a set of double doors that
are glass. If you walk out about 5 feet, the parking lot will be to
the left. However, if you do not turn left, you will approach a grass
area. It is my assumption that this could be a designated relief area
for those who are traveling with service animals. Remember: this is
an unofficial physical description of the property. Staff that would
have knowledge of relief areas were not present at the time of my
visit.
There is also a grass area to the right of the main entrance of
the hotel, but it is not as large as this parking-lot area.

Now, if we go back inside from the parking-lot area, there is a
hallway to the left. This is the area for the higher number sleeping
rooms. There is also a set of elevators on this side which is located
on the back hallway.

The agent at the front desk informed me that on the higher number
sleeping room side, the ic machine is only on the first floor. The
ice machine on the lower number rooms is only on the second floor.
The ice machines on all of the other floors are not functioning.

Here are a couple of nick-picking things I’ve noticed. If you
happen to be assigned room 150, the braille 5 is missing. Also, on
the 3rd floor, room 344 is marked 354 in braille.

Lastly, the hotel does provide a complimentary shuttle service of
a radius of 3 miles. The shuttle will give preferential service to
those who are traveling to and from the airport. So, if you use the
service to travel to an eatery within the 3-mile radius, you will not
be place ahead of those who are traveling from the airport or if a
guest needs to be picked up from the airport.
