Passing on for your information.

Are there state roads or highways that create a barrier to where you need to go?

WSDOT staff asked me to share this request. They're trying to gather a list of places around the state where crossing state roads, or roads that used to be state roads, is a barrier to community members.

For example, in my neighborhood Rainier Avenue used to be a state highway and is now a city road that is super difficult and scary to cross because of high-speed traffic and infrequent stop lights.

I know I've heard from some of you about roads like this in your communities -- the 101 in Sequim, the 395 on Chewelah. If you have examples you would like to share with WSDOT, please let me know. If you're not sure if it's a state highway or was a state highway, I can help you figure that out!

The Connecting Communities Pilot Program (CCPP) provides $50 million over five years to improve active transportation connectivity in overburdened communities bisected by legacy state transportation facilities. The WSDOT CCPP team would like your preliminary feedback on identifying and prioritizing projects that may fit this criteria. Please share information you may have on identified needs that will improve walking, biking, and rolling in your area.
