[Nfbsf] election results

Mary,
Really, In future, please, I would greatly appreciate your discretion and
courtesy, especially in this public forum, that you have selected.
With all due respect: Please further note that I am the duly elected
President of the SF Chapter, I appreciate Jason's assistance, but please
direct further communication to me.
I believe it would have been more beneficial, if you had a problem or
question to ask me directly rather than posing your public, negative,
generalities, without proper advanced inquiry, on the list-serve in such an
openly hostile manner. However, as you wish.
As a new chapter president I would have appreciated and welcomed a friendly
question and direct advice, to foster better communication and achieve our
common goals.
However, your accusatory language including but not limited to "obviously
forgotten" and "violation of the constitution", is neither constructive
language, nor necessary tone, nor is it a correct representation of the
occurrence upon which you are focusing.
I was just elected and have not even had my own meeting yet. I am perplexed
by your lack of generosity and premature challenge to anything that I may or
may not have done.
As was explained previously, no one wanted the 2d VP nomination and as such,
it was not filled. There was no wrong doing by either omission or
commission, it was openly discussed, voted on, and postponed by unanimous
consensus of all present. It can be filled when someone wants to have the
position. I can make the motion at each and every meeting we hold, if
necessary. It's really quite simple and easily fixed at the appropriate
time and in the proper manner.
So, I would be happy to remedy any issues that may have previously occurred
in the election regarding number of board members and the role of the second
VP, but I cannot fix them until the next meeting. I would request a touch
of professionalism and discussion prior to any further public assumptions or
negative statements.
Your positive advice and good will is welcome, as always.
With that in mind, PLEASE, I believe, we have genuine issues to address and
projects to accomplish together to advance the chapter and the affiliate as
a whole.
Respectfully submitted,
Eric Holm
President
San Francisco Chapter
NFBC

Thank you Jason. We will need to deal with this. The SF constitution also
does not provide for 3 board members. These are technicalities but the
chapter really should be adhereing to the constitution which was passed by
the chapter.
Talk to you later.

One more thought. Was the problem that there were not enough people present

to fill all the positions?

,
Unfortunatly, I was not able to attend last Saturday's San Francisco
chapter meeting. I was surprised tha three board members were elected. As
long as I have been a member of the chapter, we have had two board members.
I guess it was the will of the chapter at last week's meeting to have three
board members.

Cordially,

Jason R. Holloway

Hello everyone

I regret to report that I have been pulled last minute into some
meetings for tomorrow morning and therefore would not be able to make
it to the opening for the Braille Exhibit - but I encourage those who
could make it to the Library to please come and have fun with your
fellow chapter embers and the public and promote braille

Ary,
I do not know. I was not able to be there. Hopefully some of the chapter
members that were there can fill us in!

Jason

One more thought. Was the problem that there were not enough people present

to fill all the positions?

Hello all,
I as well find it surprising that there was a creating of a third
board member position on the chapter's board and equally surprised to
fine that the position of second vice president was not retained in
this election. It's been my understanding that there has only been a
position for a second VP and not a third board member at large in the
chapter's constitution. If I may voice my view on such a matter, I
feel that keeping the positions as written in the constitutionis
the best business practice for the chapter moving foward. If it's a
question of membership, it's then a matter of the chapter members and
it's leadership ( a very capable unit) to focus efforts on membership
building. I feel that the second vp position can be a very valuable
position if utilized correctly. The second vp position can be a
valuable advisor to the board where a seasoned member of the chapter
and or leader in the federation can shine and make the members around
them on the board better. this position allows for the chapter to
have a capable "third in command" and takes some pressure off of the
other board members. As well, this position is considered a
"constitutional" board position and it is given power in the
constitution, in that if business needs to be conducted and membership
is low and a dicision needs to be made quickly, the second vp serves
as one of the possible three board members that are needed to act in
special situations to conduct business when chapter meetings just are
unable to happen. I know that dicisions are made in the heat of the
moment or have to be made quickly. I certainly can't speak for anyone
present at the meeting, but I think no one had any intentions but to
act in the best interestof the chapter and it's membership. I'm sure
that this cam beutilized as a point of great discussion as it
relates to the structure and directionof the chapter. To Finish up,
my view is to keep the second vp position. I believe that there are
many good people in the chapter that can fill the position, even
people who are currently on the board that can take it on.
My best wishes to all and my congratulations to the chapter's new
leadership andthe best of luck moving foward, taking on the challange
and the joys of such a wonderful adventure and task. It's a privilage
to be able to take leadership of a chapter that has such great
potential as it is positioned ina tremendus area rich in oppertunities
and activities and people with tremendus talents. I know everyone
realizes this and is driven to make the seemingly impossible possible
  Best,

 Darian Smith

,
Unfortunatly, I was not able to attend last Saturday's San Francisco
chapter meeting. I was surprised tha three board members were
elected. As
long as I have been a member of the chapter, we have had two board
members.
I guess it was the will of the chapter at last week's meeting to have
three
board members.

Cordially,

Jason R. Holloway

Thank you Jason. We will need to deal with this. The SF constitution
also
does not provide for 3 board members. These are technicalities but the
chapter really should be adhereing to the constitution which was passed
by
the chapter.
Talk to you later.
