[Nfbsf] February chapter meeting minutes

I agree, Darian. Listening to the voice of the national President is an important part of feeling like we are a family. Personally, I think that if two of the members are listening to the release and then deciding what members should know about is a form of sensorship. I don't think we want to encourage that. I noticed you are not on the attendance list. What's up with that? Are you getting to meetings? We need your voice too. The Community Service Division has some good ideas for projects. Share them.

Best-
Mary

The National Federation of the blind knows that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the expectations of blind people because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams.
You can live the life you want; blindness is not what holds you back.

Sounds like great stuff.
I know that I was taught to play the release as opposed to summarize it at meetings. The idea is that everyone get’s the opportunity to hear what is being shared by the national office no matter if they do or don’t have the time or ability to access it in their own time.
Besides, If president Riccobono and the national office takes the time to put it together then I think it’s worth our time to listen to it as a part of what we do, even if it for some reason can’t be shortened.
With that said, I am glad that there is energy being put into considering how the release might be shortened. It used to be longer, and I think they’ve done a good job of shortening it.
