> This practical one hour workshop will introduce blindness professionals and students to basic techniques for reading and understanding tactile graphics through hands-on exercises and interaction with tactile Bay Area transit station maps.

> Participants who live or work in the San Francisco Bay Area will receive a packet of handouts to keep.

> Participants will:

> Learn basic techniques for reading and understanding tactile graphics.
> Learn the symbols and features found on tactile transit station maps.
> Practice using tactile transit station maps to plan a trip involving Bay Area transit stations.
> Learn about resources available from the LightHouse to improve your tactile reading and orientation and mobility skills.

> This workshop is ideal for Orientation and Mobility Specialists; Rehabilitation Training Specialists; Teachers of the Visually Impaired; O&M, RTS and TVI professional training program instructors and students; blind and visually impaired youth and adults and other interested community members.
