For your leisure reading...

Kim Charlson, Executive Director, Perkins Braille & Talking Book Library is the 2019 recipient of the Francis Joseph Campbell Award, given by the Association of Specialized, Government, and Cooperative Library Agencies (ASGCLA). Ms. Charlson is being honored for her strong commitment to inclusion and empowerment, her tireless efforts on the passage of the Marrakesh Treaty for the Visually Impaired, and her life-long passion for bringing the joy of reading to all.

Kim Charlson has been a tireless advocate at the international level for passage of The Marrakesh Treaty that was adopted to achieve the goal of internationally harmonizing copyright law to permit the production of accessible works and their cross-border exchange. Kim's advocacy for this important effort has been front and center and reflects how steady and reasoned dialog can make an impact on services that will benefit millions of people around the world.

Kim is truly a leader in the library community, consulting with libraries all across the country and promoting services to people with disabilities. She is also strongly committed to getting people with disabilities involved with advocacy. She also serves as a member of the Braille Authority of North America, the standard-setting body for braille in the United States and Canada.
