We're With U! A Benefit Concert to Help Blind Ukrainian Refugees

Many in the Federation family have been asking if there is something we can
do specifically to help blind people impacted by the horrific invasion
happening in Ukraine. We have connected with the World Blind Union and our
friends in the global community of blind people and have identified an
important effort we intend to support. If you are a blind person who has
been displaced from Ukraine, please reach out to our <mailto:nfb at nfb.org>
general information email, and we will attempt to connect you with available
resources. While our organization operates in the United States, we want to
use our extensive network of love and support at this important time.

World Blind Union Ukrainian Unity Fund

On March 20, 2022, the
<https://worldblindunion.org/blog/news/wbu-stands-united-with-ukraine-and-is
-taking-action-to-help/> World Blind Union announced the establishment of
the Ukrainian Unity Fund.

We're With U! Concert

On Saturday, April 16, at 2 p.m. eastern time the global online blind
community is joining for a benefit concert to help blind Ukrainian refugees.
The National Federation of the Blind is leading US efforts to participate in
this concert to tell our blind friends in the Ukraine that we are with you!

Access to tune into the event will be in many places. Mushroom FM has
donated its resources to be the host broadcaster for We Are With U.
<https://mushroomfm.com/withyou> Mushroom FM has an accessible online
player. It is available in all radio directories including Apple Music. It
has its own Alexa skill and Google Home action. You can also tell Siri to
Play Mushroom FM. There will also be more ways to access. Stay tuned for
more details.

Perform to Contribute!

<https://mushroomfm.com/withyou> Read the full announcement from the
original event website. Thank you to the individuals who launched this
effort. Deadline to submit performances is Friday, April 8, 2022.

The event is being produced by Jaffar Sidek Ahmad, who came up with the idea
of the We're With U event.

*	Provide Jaffar with a high quality recording of your performance
well ahead of the April 16 event.
*	Preface your performance with a brief message that introduces
yourself and tells us why you decided to support Ukrainian refugees.
*	If you have heard well remembered past events in this genre, such as
Live Aid, you know that happy music is OK, as are cover versions.

The goal is to raise as much money as we can by providing a great event, so
your contribution does not have to be original nor does it have to have a
war theme. The key thing is that we entertain people, encourage them to
stick around, and give what they can.

Please discuss what you'd like to do, by sending
<mailto:jaffar.sidek10 at gmail.com> an email to Jaffar.

Be sure to include in your performance that you are a proud member of the
National Federation of the Blind and that all Federation members are with
those who have been impacted.
