Hey NFB Family and Friends,

Happy LOVE week, I know Valentine's is only a day but I'm wishing everyone,
at least, a week of smiles, hugs, kisses and the feeling you are the most
important person in the world because you are!

Please read on and join your friends or make new friends by attending one of
our programs or meetings.

Subject: [NFBV-At-Large] NLS braille eReaders are now available in Virginia!

The National Library Service will be providing free braille eReaders to
patrons, and they have finally arrived in Virginia. The devices are made by
HumanWare, have a 20 cell refreshable display, perkins style keyboard, and
wifi plus Bluetooth capabilities (they work the best with iOS systems). They
connect with NLS BARD, NFB Newsline, and Bookshare. And completely free for
NLS patrons!

I've included the phone numbers to the state library in Richmond and the
seven subregional libraries around the state who will be able to assist you.

I run the Talking Book Center in Staunton, so feel free to ask me questions.

Silver Bells 2023 is coming soon! Please join us at our last meet and greet
of the year and sign up for an EMPOWERMENT WEEKEND, FOR low vision and blind
SENIORS!

On Saturday, March 4th from 1:00 thru 3:00 via zoom. Join us and get a sneak
peak of the opportunity available to YOU!

If you are, or someone you know is, 55 and older, experiencing vision loss,
live in Virginia, and have the desire to embark on an exciting training
opportunity, please continue reading about Silver Bells.

What is Silver Bells? It's camaraderie in the company of new friends.

It's learning confidence and non-visual techniques in the comfort of a safe
environment.

It's getting answers to your gnawing concerns, about your vision loss, from
people who get it.

It's you, and us, working side by side to tackle day-to-day independent
living skills such as, personal home management, cell phones and travel in
your neighborhood.

It's games and socializing when we aren't doing the hard work.

And this is only the start of what we hope will be an ongoing partnership.

These weekends are provided free of charge to Virginia residents thanks to a
grant from the Virginia Board for the Blind and the National Federation of
the Blind of Virginia.

Can't make the March 4th meet and greet, reach out to us by Visiting
NFBV.org/Silver Bells for more information or get in touch with our program
coordinator, Sandy Halverson via phone at: 703-400-6890, or by email at:

silverbells at nfbv.org <mailto:silverbells at nfbv.org> and we can share details
about later events.

Why Silver Bells? Because you deserve and have earned the right to FREEDOM,
RESPECT, and DIGNITY! Get empowered and be the best you, you ever imagined!
