The Greater Alexandria Chapter and the Virginia Association of Blind
Students want to thank all of you who made our MOSAIC & MILKSHAKES event
last Sunday a HUGE success!  Carol Erickson, a renowned artist, specializing
in stained glass, led us through the creation of our own stained glass
masterpieces!  They will, no doubt, take a special place over the fireplace!
And I will say, the milkshakes were absolutely YUMMY!  Thank you all!

Hello Everyone,

The Ches. Bay Chapter is selling coffee and tea to support our Chapter
Members going to National Convention. We have  Chocolate raspberry  coffee
and breakfast blend coffee for $12.00 and a box of 100 bags orange blend tea
of $8.00. The Virginia Coffee and Tea Company is supplying the items. Please
call Annie to place your orders (phone number below). Please be prepared to
pay by check, money order or cash. We are not able to ship the orders as we
want all money collected to be available to our Chapter Members

Spotlight On.

Greetings once again,

Our monthly meeting is nearly here!  This month we will review the May 13th,
affiliate board meeting and discuss possible topics for  our Fall meetings.
If any of you will be in attendance Saturday send me a txt and we can sit
together.  I'll be at the Weston for both the morning philosophy discussion
and the afternoon board meeting.  As a reminder the chapter takes June and
July off from meetings.

As a follow up to last month's meeting discussion I encourage you to read

Greetings everyone, 

I hope everyone is doing well.  Our next meeting is scheduled for Saturday,
May 20, 2023 from 2-3:30 PM.  Everyone will be able to join in from the
comfort of your home, as we will be meeting via Zoom.  The Zoom information
is at the bottom of this email.  Our program for this meeting is entitled,
"PIE" which stands for Philosophy, Independence, and Empowerment.  This will
be a discussion led by Michael Kitchens and Jenny Blinsmon.  They promise
that it will be an interesting and lively discussion.  Of course, since this
is a virtual meeting, everyone is invited to join us!

Upcoming Meeting:  On June 17 we will meet  at the offices and studios of
WHRO public media where we will hear from Jim Holzer, who is in charge of
the Hampton Roads voice, a radio reading service for blind and low vision
individuals.  We will also hear from John Halverson, who will talk about
Newsline for the Blind.  So mark your calendars for June 17.  That meeting
will be both in person and via Zoom.
