Hello NFBV Family!

In case you hadn’t heard…the NFBV State Convention is next week!  YIKES!

And there is something exciting brewing in the slightly devilish cauldron
of mischief!
It is THE SKELETON SCAMPER 50/50 RAFFLE!
You’ve heard of the Horse Race 50/50 Raffle, right?  Well, this is THAT,
but with a Halloween twist!

*Anyone can place a bet!*  You don’t have to be attending the Convention to
bet on your favorite Skeletons!  Just contact them anytime before
convention to place your bets, get that cash in their bony skeleton hands,
and you’re in!  If you are a winner, we will make sure you receive your
winnings!

Here’s how it works:

1.     There are 6 Scary Skeletons (Chapter Presidents and Division Chairs)
who are in training to run this hair-raising race scheduled to take place
at the NFBV Banquet, Saturday night!

2.     They will be Scampering around at Convention, frantically trying to
collect as many bets as they can!

3.     You can help by placing bets in abundance!  Each bet is $5.00 which
must be paid in cash to the Scary Skeleton at the time of the bet, and all
are encouraged to bet as many shares as possible!  Take lots of cash!

4.     This is a 50/50 Raffle, so sometime during our banquet, these Scary
Skeletons will line up for the big race!  The winning Skeleton will be the
one who makes it to the finish line first and all those lucky souls who bet
on that Skeleton will win!

5.     Half of the total winnings will go to the NFBV’s general fund to
help where needed, and the other half will be divided up among those who
bet on the winning Skeleton, based on the amount they bet!  So, if you bet
more, you win more!  EASY PEASY!

6.     Did I mention, the winners will receive their winnings immediately
following the banquet! But, don’t worry, you don’t have to be present to
win!  We will make sure you receive your prize!
You can be sure you get in on this frighteningly fun event by finding one
or many of the Scary Skeletons at Convention and placing your cash bet with
them!

Ø Jahmil Garrett Bey, Virginia Association of Blind Students Vice President
Ø Sandy Halverson, Potomac Chapter President
Ø Patrick Johnson, At-Large Chapter President
Ø Mike Lengyle, Greater Williamsburg Chapter President
Ø Jessica Reed, Blind Parents Division Chair

Remember, bet early, bet often, and bet A LOT!  Support ALL your favorite
Scary Skeletons at the 2025 NFBV SKELETON SCAMPER!  And, as always, support
our NFBV General Fund!
