Hello Again,
I thought it best to send out more clarifying information on the BELL
program and what is needed - volunteers. It is not to late to volunteer.
This is a remarkable opportunity!!! The program begins on Monday, August 11,
and runs through August 22. your services are welcomed and needed during
this two-week program.
CHAPTER MEMBERS, WE CAN HELP MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!!!!
The Northern Virginia Braille Enrichment for Literacy and Learning (BELL)
Program will be held at Saint George's Episcopal Church from Monday, August
11 through Friday, August 22. This year, we will have 6 children ranging in
age from almost 4 to 12 years of age. As with all of the NFB BELL Programs,
volunteers, including blind adult role models, are key to the success and
learning of students. Volunteers provide one-on-one support to students in
support of the lessons taught by the teacher of blind students, Gillian
Pilcher.
If you enjoy working with children and wish to support their learning
efforts during BELL, we can use your assistance, whether for an hour or two,
one day or the entire two weeks of the Program.
Listed below, is a sampling of volunteer activities. If you are interested
in joining us and ringing a bell for Braille literacy, please contact:
Nancy Yeager, by e-mail nancyyeager542 at verizon.net or by phone
(703)283-2524. Thank you for your support.
