Please participate in our Walk With the Blind Saturday, April 21. Events will commence at the City Dock promptly at 9:30 Saturday morning. Please bring all donations and give them to our treasurer, Leon Anderson. Please bring all certificates and make certain they are clearly labeled at the registration table. We need to know who donated them, and for what they can be redeemed.

This is not a difficult walk and, as far as we know, the weather will cooperate this year! This is a truly delightful way to get some exercise, spend time with our friends, introduce ourselves to the Caroline Street business community and raise urgently needed funds for our chapter. This is our chapter's only annual fund raising event. Without the money our chapter's Walk With the Blind raises, we have no resources to implement high quality local programming for those who need it most.

Last month, a brand new couple attended our meeting. The lady is blind. Her eye doctor encouraged her to meet people in groups like ours. Her son in law found out about us and corresponded with me. Then, her husband accompanied her to the meeting.

The mother of a young adult found out about us and made enquiries. Among other concerns, she expressed frustration because her son was not learning Braille in school. That is no longer the case because our state first vice president, Sandy Halverson, accompanied the family to that meeting. Thanks to Sandy, that young adult now has the opportunity to begin learning Braille in school. Sandy traveled a significant distance to help this family. Now, if I understand correctly, the family has involved the young man with Project Rise.

Let us please all join hands, heads, hearts, feet and whatever other resources we possess to make Saturday's Wal With the Blind a seriously meaningful event. Most of us cannot do it alone, but all of us can succeed by working together. Please contact me with any questions.
