[Njtechdiv] Wireless connect doodad

Hi Eileen.
Yes, there’s a wireless router, but it doesn’t look like my PC has a wireless receiver/transmitter, or whatever it needs to reach out to the wireless router. At least, so far as I can see. It seems odd that it wouldn’t have such an ability, but, if it does, I can’t find it.

Hi Tracy,
Merry Christmas to you too.
I’m not completely sure about this, but wireless to me says there will be a router involved & if the new set-top box is wireless, is it looking to connect to your in-home network via Y-fi? If so it might be a matter of setting up the new box with your router name/id & the password for it.
Just thinking out loud. Good luck.
Eileen

Happy holidays to everyone!
Cablevision is giving me a Christmas present of a new, accessible cable box! Hope it works like the website says it does. It’s supposed to talk for everything.
But it means I have to switch my old desktop from Ethernet to wireless, and the old PC doesn’t seem to have a way to access wireless. I only see LAN on the network connections page.
Do I need a doodad to make it able to connect wirelessly? If so, what’s the doodad called, so I can look for it on Amazon?
Thanks.
Tracy
