Hi Craig,
This is a difficult situation.  I understand where you are coming 
from with regard to not wanting them to assume things about you.  
I have a similar thing on my resume.  I tutored a student in 
Braille for a while.  I included it on my resume, but it really 
has not affected me getting an interview.  If they ask about it, 
I just tell them that I tutored Braille and then immediately 
explain how I can do the job with assistive technology.  I do not 
think it is a big deal.
