[Ohio-talk] I don't have it in for any airline

When I fly, I make sure I'm booked into a regular seat. I feel thatI have
more control over my dog if it's under the seat between my feet in case of
turbulence. I also think dogs feel more secure in an enclosed area.
On one occasion, I was on my way to a national convention, I boarded the
plane, slid the dog under the seat, out of the isle and out of the way of
the passenger sitting next to me. The flight attendant said that it was a
regulation that passengers had to move to the bulkhead seat. I quietly
refused to move and asked to see it in writing. She left and came back with
the pilot
Who also told me that I would have to move. When I again asked to see the
regulation, they apparently decided this was a battle they did not want to
fight. The flight was uneventful. I had no trouble on my return flight. Ways
to educate airline employees would be something we could discuss at an
OAGDU meeting.

Yes, the dog started out under the seat but the plane was over an hour
late taking off and the dog moved out and was under the man's legs.
If I travel in bulkhead my dog is at my feet. I have alos travelled
in other parts of the plane and my dog will be mostly under the seat
but the paws and head may be out. I had one attendant many years ago
tell me to make my dog stay completely under the seat. I said I
couldn't do that if the dog moved out. I complained to the airline
and received 2 free round-trip tickets. I was not removed from the
plane. It wasn't the same company either. I would like to hear from
other people who fly with dogs. On some of those small jets I think
it could be very hard to get a very large dog under the seat.
