Hi Marianne,
I agree with you. I do however wonder if we have gone too far in our effort to allow consumer choice. I understand why this came about and I also understand that it is helpful if people know what they want to do and how to get there. Some people need help in figuring out how to get where they want to go.
Now what about a person who chooses a field which wouldn't be very good for them. I mean someone going into radio broadcasting who cannot speak above a whisper and who cannot interview people because she cannot retain for more than five minutes what they tell her. I am not exaggerating either of these two things.
It was a waste of money for BSVI to pay for college and graduate school for someone who cannot speak loud enough for her voice to come over theradio, cannot be heard well over the phone, and who cannot remember what people tell her and ask the same question five minutes later.
A very good friend of mine felt bad but could not accept her as a volunteer.
I volunteered for this program for 25 years until it ended.
Where do you draw the line?
