I participated in a study of people who are blind and use rideshare
services. This is information I received and a link to the document. I think
this is an area of concern for any blind person who uses these services.

Dear survey participant,

Thank you very much for participating in our survey on transportation in the
blind and low vision community in 2024. Our research article on BLV
transportation and ride-hailing was recently published in the Transportation
Research Interdisciplinary Perspectives journal (TRIPs).

 

>From the survey, we were able to draw several conclusions:

 

1.	App-based ride-hailing services such as Uber and Lyft significantly
improve access to destinations for blind and low vision users.

2.	Ride-hailing services are also the transport mode in which
discrimination is most frequently reported by the blind and low vision
community.

3.	Blind and low vision individuals with guide dogs report higher
levels of discrimination using ride-hailing than non-guide dog users.

4.	Respondents expressed slightly greater satisfaction with Lyft than
with Uber.
