Elizabeth,

Thank you for this information. However, please note that, for unpaid
volunteers, there is NO fee for either background check.
I sent information for the FREE background checks. They are as follows:
PA Child Abuse background check

· No fee for volunteers (that’s you!)

· Must create an individual account and then sign in to make the
request

· https://www.compass.state.pa.us/cwis/public/home

PA Criminal Background check—for unpaid volunteers only

· No fee for volunteers (that’s you!)

· https://epatch.state.pa.us/TandCVolunteerAction.do?

Again, there is NO fee for the background checks if you are an unpaid
volunteer. Please note that you are still an unpaid volunteer even if we
reimburse your travel expenses (reimbursement is NOT payment).

If you choose to get a clearance is anything but an unpaid volunteer, there
will be a fee. However, there is NO FEE for either of the above background
checks to serve as a volunteer in the Harrisburg NFB BELL Academy program.

I hope this explanation helps. Please do not hesitate to contact me with
any questions or concerns,
Carlton
