I am a VI teacher who has taught chemistry for 6 years to the VI. If the school will get him a temperature probe that connects to a computer, it would be great. He needs tactile graphing paper of course. He needs the braille measuring cups. Get him the braille metric and brailled English system of measurements so he can compare. he needs manipulatives like gram measurements and a balance. He needs a talking scale that measures grams and ounces and a metric and English ruler. There is a great kitchen one that I use. The Basic Science Book from APH is great for thermaform science pictures. SAVI has great kits for him. They are great for his age. I know much more hands-on stuff than websites as we have no internet in our class. cindy robinson

Subject: [Pibe-division] Measuring & Chemistry Lab Full-Inclusion Insights

Hi Every,
Vejas is in 8th grade & his science curriculum this year is focusing of chemistry.
He wants to actively participate as much as possible in the lab portion of the class.
Do you have insights, pictures, and web-links to specific sites that focus on how a blind student specifically measures things & can participate in other chemistry-related activities?
Any pearls of experience & wisdom will be greatly appreciated.
The science teacher & TVI are open to suggestions.
Once I get enough responses, I will be happy to group them together & share them if you wish.
Thanks
Eric V
